is admitting one of many guilty pleasures. Not sure why I like this song so much. Elton John's Sacrifice is another. My list could run quite long

The Doors - Light My Fire
John Cougar Mellencamp - Jack and Diane
Frank Sinatra - My Way
Radiohead - Permanent Daylight
Gladys Knight & The Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia
Missy Elliot - Get Ur Freak On (Remix)
Spandau Ballet - True

So, better late than never or not at all. I know you all have been on the edge of your seats waiting to see what random collection of songs my iPod chose to fire up for me.

You need not wait any longer, as I have finally booted a computer up and found a few moments of time to post my seven.

I'll be honest, Light My Fire was never my favorite song by The Doors. It very well may have been the first I ever heard from them, but not my favorite.

John Cougar Mellencamp finally grew on me by the time he dropped the "Cougar" nickname. There are times that it feels as if I have settled down in a town that could very well have inspired the little ditty 'bout Jack and Diane. Two 'Merican kids livin' in the heartland.

Can't really say too much about Sinatra--though having the image of Gary Olman as Sid Vicious performing a cover of it sure is something alright.

Not too familiar with this Radiohead song. Sorry.

There was a book I used to own once about a variety of faux pas. In it, there was a D.J.'s mispronunciation of Gladys Knight and the Pips. It was pretty funny, actually.

What Missy Misdemeanor been up to lately, hm?

Spandau Ballet gives me Sixteen Candles flashbacks of me wishing I were Jake Ryan. I ultimately would come to the realization that I really am The Geek, and I'm not so okay with that quite yet.

'Til next week.

Michael W. Smith - Give It Away
311 - Electricity
Jackson Browne - Somebody's Baby
Elvis Presley - (Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame
Death Cab for Cutie - Sound of Settling
Belinda Carlisle - I Get Weak
Swing Out Sister - Breakout

What an odd collection of songs to have played as a group.

Both MWS and 311 songs are just eh for me, not ones I really got into.

Somebody's Baby reminds me of Jennifer Jason Leigh and Fast Times at Ridgemont High and I, suppose, Phoebe Cates. Oh yeah, and Sean Penn. And Judge Reinhold...ok, I'm stopping now.

Is it wrong that I would prefer to listen to The Smiths' live version of Marie's the Name the segues into Rusholme Ruffians? I love that song, and the bass line used to give me the most difficult time. I think I have a good part of it figured out, but don't fight with it as much anymore. Still mad at Moz for canceling his Orlando show.

Sound of Settling was the first Death Cab for Cutie song that I ever listened to. Of course, I still really like the thing.

Both Belinda Carlisle and Swing Out Sister make me kind of wistful. Le sigh for Jane Wiedlin, too.
