Are, on occasion, fun.
Take, for example, my search for Dorothy Parker today. It yielded this. There are also some other ones depicting The Writer at Work.
It's been awfully quiet lately. Hope it's not the calm before the storm.

Oh yeah, since I've been working. . .
Our institution has been throwing around ideas for a new online course management system. Obviously, the top of the line Blackboard and WebCT have been discussed, but really, the costs associated with those systems are prohibitive. Anyone familiar with my place of employment knows that penny pinching is a way of life here.
About a year or so ago, the previous online course admin and I ran across a course management system called Moodle. The name doesn't roll off the tongue per se, but it's a system that's well put together.
We proposed it a while back, and were shot down by others with their own agendas regarding what system should be used--regardless of whether it would be approved for budgetary reasons.

Who's a happy monkey?
This monkey is.
Rachel just called to have me take care of setting up the installation of TiVo at home (finally!) and to do some prelminary searching on getting her set up with a Nextel.
Now, normally, I'd just get the TiVo and try setting it up on my own, but since we want to move the other receiver into our bedroom, and I can't run coax (or make the cable, really), we're having it installed. I thought there'd be a longer wait, and was surprised that someone will be at our home between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday--which works out well, since I have to be off that afternoon anyway.
Now, to seek out a larger hard drive for the thing. I know Rachel probably won't want to, but it'd be nice to increase the capacity of it, you know?
Hmmm. Now I need two hard drives.

Office Bricolage
Bri-co-lage n.
Something made or put together using whatever materials happen to be available: “Even the decor is a bricolage, a mix of this and that” (Los Angeles Times)
Somehow, I think we're going to see more on the job injuries at some places.

A book and a movie
I have never read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card--don't laugh, okay? Somewhere along the line this week or last weekend, I was reminded of the fact, and put in a request for a copy at the library.
It came in today, and I've not had a chance to dive into it. Can't wait.
Deuces forever? Give me a break. I need to check out The Outsiders on DVD from the library again. Definitely better than Deuces Wild.
