Our institution has been throwing around ideas for a new online course management system. Obviously, the top of the line Blackboard and WebCT have been discussed, but really, the costs associated with those systems are prohibitive. Anyone familiar with my place of employment knows that penny pinching is a way of life here.
About a year or so ago, the previous online course admin and I ran across a course management system called
Moodle. The name doesn't roll off the tongue per se, but it's a system that's well put together.
We proposed it a while back, and were shot down by others with their own agendas regarding what system should be used--regardless of whether it would be approved for budgetary reasons.
