servermonkey: (What Would Marvin Do?)
[personal profile] servermonkey
Hey, happy birthday ijkIlona!

Dropped off the prescription at Walgreens last night and was told that it would be an hour to fill it. So I milled about for a little bit to kill time. Lasted only about five minutes or so. I did find that Brylcreem was still being sold, as is Vitalis. Gave buying it a moment's thought, but didn't think I should jump into the realm of the old man quite yet. Not only that, but the price for the stuff was a bit unreasonable, the tube of Brylcreem was something between 6.99 and 7.99. Of course, if a little dab'll do ya then that whole tube would probably last me until I'm near retirement age. It was HUGE tube. Genetics.

So, I wandered on over to Movie Gallery, since Abby had asked to see the new Arthur movie (it wasn't in, though I'm not sure of the release date for it anyhow). Whilst perusing the shelves in order to kill more time, I saw a movie that will undoubtedly annoy all the careless renters out there: Snakes on a Train. With a tag like 100 passengers, 3000 Venomous Vipers (I know IMDB reads 2000, but I swear the box read 3000 and I'm sure those extra thousand snakes will do some damage) how can someone resist it? Just ripe for riffing, I'm sure.

I didn't realize that there had been a remake of 1964's Two Thousand Maniacs! last year with Robert Englund. The main reason I remember that movie is because 10,000 Maniacs used it (the original, of course) as an inspiration for their band name--I believe.

Lastly, bah! on me as I forgot to shave this morning. I know it's bad when Abby tells me that I need to shave and not forget. Well, I forgot and I've got annoying stubble that looks more like dirt on my face than facial hair.

i was going to post a comment about "a little dab'll do ya" but well, that would be redundant since you already talked about it in your entry. but just note that i wanted to.

It's okay. The first thing I thought when I saw the huge tube of Brylcreem was the slogan.

Sad really.

WTF, a 2000 Maniacs remake? Why was I not informed of this? I'm a huge fan of the original, which was actually quite gory for its time. Can't imagine how they most likely screwed it up. Now I have to rent it. Thanks for informing me ;)

But of course!

How are things with you? It's been quite some time since I've commented on any journals 'cause I suck.

That's okay - it's been a long time since I've updated my journal. I did today, but it's the first time since I think July 5th. I work two jobs and don't have Net access at home, so no time at all to do it unless I'm at Mom and Dad's doing laundry like I am now =) I do plan on getting a Net connection at home soon, but just have to figure out if I can fit it into the budget. But, to answer your question, things are going well ;) How's by you?

Well, life has been good for us. Rachel and I closed on our home a few weeks ago W00T! for that.

Rachel's dad had a big cancer scare, but it looks like he has taken to his treatment.

Jon and Abby started preschool two weeks ago, which we weren't at all excited about but they both seem to love it.

I've started getting back into MST3K again, and WISH I'd bought MST3K: The Movie on DVD when it was first released.

But, yeah life is good.

Oh, congratulations, that's great! I know you'd been worried about that.

I guess this means that your kids are growing up, and that's never a happy thing for a parent to have to face, is it? I didn't even think Jon was old enough for preschool.

MST3K, mmmm. I haven't watched an episode of that in a long time. I should start getting back into that myself, but I'm getting back into my X-Files fandom - Brian and I are steadily buying all the seasons, and I scored a cheap used copy of the lone season of "The Lone Gunmen", which is a better show than one might think and deserved a better chance.
