Am I the only one that this seems weird to?
My curiosity meant that I HAD to tune to it last night at 10:00 p.m. I managed to watch for about ten minutes or so. I'll not get those minutes back. Hellraiser: Hellworld was on afterward...had to set TiVo to record that, since I couldn't stay awake for it. I'm sure I'll regret not being able to get those minutes back.
IFC ran a heartbreaking movie the other day: Blue Car. I've been telling all of my office about it, and so I tell you out there on LJ as well. It hit the right chords with me, but it will most likely not do the same with everyone else.
Redeemed a free movie rental at Movie Gallery yesterday as well, grabbing The Family Stone (what can I say? I'm a sucker for Rachel McAdams) and A History of Violence. I happened to have Jonothan with me for the trip to Movie Gallery and the library as well, so I don't know if that's why the clerk started to say, "Well, A History of Violence has some scenes that kids probably..." which is where I cut her off saying, "I know, it's a David Cronenberg movie and he's made some doozies..." at which point I described a bit about Shivers, Videodrome, and Crash to her (making sure that I mentioned that he did not direct the most recent movie named Crash but another one).
I only wish I'd had a camera to record the look on her face as I trumped her movie knowledge--though she did say she saw the preview for Cronenberg's Crash somewhere.
I'm such a schmuck, I know.

I worked at Blockbuster when I was 19 and was such a dork about it - always looking down my nose at peoples' intellectually devoid movie choices. There aren't many nerdy video store clerks anymore, so I don't imagine it was hard for you to trump her knowledge - and hooray for your knowledge of Cronenberg ;) Crash was a wild one indeed - did you see the unrated version where James Spader has sex with Holly Hunter's leg wound? Wicked stuff. The book's pretty nuts, too, and the author and I share a last name.

I couldn't believe I was watching that, yet could not turn away. That Cronenberg, he's something alright. I have to say that eXistenZ has grown on me. Didn't like it the first two times, but I just can't resist Jennifer Jason Leigh--much like I can't resist Rachel McAdams (rrrrowr! I'm sad, I know).
I still haven't watched Red Eye, Rachel likes Cillian Murphy as well, so it wouldn't be a hard sell for her, unlike say, Hostel or Wolf Creek. She didn't do too well with High Tension, and I have to admit, I cringed at a few points there. I'm getting old, as I keep saying.
We would've OWNED the customers if we'd worked at the same video store. :)

Way to beat down the poor clerk at hollywood video the ghetto but cheaper and better knock off of blockbuster. I understand why she thought you were going to watch that move w/ your little ones becasue all of Poke Kounty does that but still to openly state that to people they should know the R rating means something. A History does look to b e quite good. I love my hollywood video and after getting screwed by blockbuster I am never going back.

Now, at least Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who have been on, glad about that. And am also glad that SciFi still runs the original Battlestar Galactica (though not lately) and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (rrrowr Erin Gray!).
