Airline safety?
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Frightening story about a college student proving how substandard airline security is.
Feel safe?
While we're at it, why don't we take a look at the school principal dressed as a Teletubbie. Nice.

A bloke stabbed a Qantas stewardess on a domestic flight a few months back, with a piece of jagged wood, and there was a big flurry of media attention. What they didn't really focus on especially, and should've, is the fact that tighter and tighter security really doesn't seem to solve anything. People will come up with ways to get around it. A bloke tries to put bombs in his shoes; a bloke stabs someone with a piece of wood to avoid metal detectors; when's it going to stop? I'm starting to think we'd be better off with really bog-standard security, so that all the evil geniuses out there don't have a reason to demonstrate the depths of their evil genius inventiveness.
I don't know. I'm full of crap. But that's just what I think.
On another note, I saw Donnie Darko last night, so I feel even less safe about planes now. ;)

I haven't flown in about five years, and am extremely hesitant in doing so now.
I've also seen Donnie Darko since my last flight so long ago, so maybe that's also in play as well. But, God, do I love that movie. Must own it.
