I've got two mix CDs in the car--well a lot more, but I'm referring to two recent ones I've burned. They're named Female of the Species and Female of the Species II because I couldn't think of what else to name them, and both CDs feature female artists, or groups with female lead singers.

Anyway, on one there's Frente's version of Open Up Your Heart And Let The Sun Shine In from The Flintstones. Abby calls it the heart song. A couple of songs later is Sarah McLachlan's version of The Rainbow Connection. It's a difficult thing to hold back a smile when either song starts to play. My smile grew even bigger when I told Abby that I loved the Rainbow song and Abby responded with, "I lub it too, dadee."

These moments pass far too quickly.

Also, Rusted Root always makes me want to listen to Poi Dog Pondering. Always.

Grr, I forget where I saw this - probably on The Velvet Rope (great website, message board for music industry insiders) - but Frente is actually putting out a new album early next year. Neat, eh? =)

Ahhh! I always see that on your "Music" and keep meaning to ask you where you found it. I love Sarah MacLachlan and I have always loved the Rainbow Connection. Apart from the obvious awesomeness associated with its original suave green singer, I just think it's a really beautiful song. And connecting the two? I think my heart would implode under the weight of the happy. In a good way.

It is quite something to hear her sing it. If you need to procure a copy, I will gladly figure a way to get it to you.
