Just finished e-filing our 2004 tax return. It was a nice thing not to have to wait on a dial-up connection like last year. It cut down on the time it took to file. I'm hoping for an iPod, however, while doing a load of laundry, Rachel and I heard a really loud * BOOM! * from the laundry room while the washer started to go into its first spin cycle. Rachel moved the switch onto the rinse cycle to see what would happen next. The washer ended up going on to the final spin cycle, but nothing. Noise, yes, but no spinning. We could smell a fainting burning odor from the washer, and when Rachel opened up the washer, there was some slight wisps of smoke from it as well.
In my opinion, the washer is most likely D.O.A. If we chose to put a call in for a repairperson, I get a feeling we'll spend just as much to get it fixed as we would getting into a new washer. Maybe? My opinion, anyway. I get a feeling that's going to put a kibosh on my iPod dreams. Oh well, I still need a new hard drive to hold all the music I eventually want to have on my iPod, so perhaps it's for the best. Sadness.
If I haven't mentioned it recently, I'm really loving Battlestar Galactica. A lot. The new Cylon raiders are just SO cool--as evidenced by my choice of Cylon raider wallpaper.
Fox Movie Channel is running Big Trouble in Little China right now, and ever since I read somewhere that Buckaroo Banzai was supposed to run into Jack Burton at one time, I've always imagined what that would've been like. That Lo Pan is one crazy joker. Loving this movie, too. "Chinese have a lot of hells."
Lastly, did Predator 2 really need a special edition?

It's saddening about the STEP-daughter thing. Especially when you feel/think of them as your own.
As far as the original 70s Cylons, they seemed pretty intimidating to me, large metallic hulks that weren't too good aiming and piloting. Even the Imperious Leader had an odd look to him, lizard like, like you say. My favorites were the Lucifer like robots. Something of a protocol droid, but not as neurotic as C-3PO.
AVP. Heh, yeah I'd like to see it, but have a bad feeling about it. I wanted the AVP games SO badly, but never bought them. They should be pretty cheap now.

Did you ever see the AVP card game? Very interesting, but it never took off.

I never played against anyone to see how well the game played out. Sad, really.

Sorry to hear about your washing machine, though...that really sucks, especially with two kids in the house =/

Good story about my first, well only so far, DVD player. It was my second faculty/staff Christmas party, and there was a history of giving out door prizes. Some were really cool, some were just nice. Anyway, the whole night, I had joked with our table, "DVD player, DVD player!"
My name was called for a nice sized box, and sure enough, it was an RCA DVD player. After unrapping it and seeing what it was, I yelled something out that embarassed Rachel. Good times.
True story.

I did, however, stand up and yell "YOU ROCK!" at the president's administrative assistant. If I thought that I wouldn't have broken her back, I'd have run up to her and jumped into her arms.
I was that excited.
