VH1 Classic's show, The Alternative, had a nice little block going on yesterday. Or was it Saturday?

Tori Amos to Margo Timmins to Hope Sandoval to Elisabeth Frasier to someone else who I've now forgotten. It was good.

Garden State was everything I expected it to be, and I would like to own it someday. Part of me wonders how much Natalie Portman was really acting, as she just seemed so natural to me. Granted, I've been fond of her for some time, so I suppose I'm biased. Didn't expect Method Man to be in it, and never heard of lipstick used in that manner before. I mean, it was instantly apparent what was being referred to, but I'd not heard it before. Working on watching Napoleon Dynamite and I've laughed a bit, gone "Huh?" a bit and am curious to see what will happen.

My brother-in-law and his family chose not to live in our home (we found out by accident, and never officially), but they came over on New Year's Eve and we watched Anchorman. Not what I had expected, but I found it amusing. Silliness. If people found it funny enough, I may just resolve to start saying, "Stay classy!" instead of "Goodbye" from now on.

Probably best not to.

Garden State was recently added to my library as of last week. Highly pleased.

Like Ray Charles said about Pepsi, "Uh HUH!"

When I tuned into Alternative yesterday, I was extraordinarily pleased to find that they were featuring Siouxsie and the Banshees.

I saw that was going to be on, but didn't get to watch it.

Ended up going to see The Incredibles.

i also liked garden state. i'm beginning to like natalie portman, i admit i hadn't seen her before star wars and wasn't impressed (could be that i'm not impressed with the new star warseses in general). but i like her a lot in this movie and look forward to seeing more diverse roles from her in the future. also napoleon dynamite is weird as hell. i didn't laugh out loud so much as i was ridiculously amused on the inside, which i think is a good thing for me and i want to own both of those movies soon (but they are $21 each!!!)

I can't wait until Movie Gallery does their Buy 2 Get 1 free DVD sale, recently, they did Buy 2 Get 2 Free--we got Kill Bill Vol. 1, Mona Lisa Smile (I hate Julia Roberts, but usually like the movies she's in, it's an odd dichotomy), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and 50 First Dates (what can I say, Adam Sandler is a guilty pleasure, and I like Drew Barrymore most of the time) for a bit over $20.00 or so. There were more there that I really wanted, but maybe they'll be cheaper next time.

Have you seen The Professional? Avoid Mars Attacks at all costs, unless you're feeling particularly silly--which means that I loved it.

Only if you'd like. It's not for all tastes, by all means.
