Trillian

servermonkey: (Default)
It's taken me this long to figure it out--even after using Trillian for over four or five years. I've forgotten how long I've used it for.

Anyway, I wanted to update my AIM buddy list, you know clean people off that I've not seen online in quite some time, that sort of thing (that and Trillian was none too happy that I had more than 200 people on my Buddy List). So, I tried doing it directly from Trillian. Didn't work. Logged in using AIM Express and updated my list. Logged into Trillian and all the people I'd gotten rid of a few moments earlier reappeared in a Merged Contacts group. Okay. Tried logging in with an installed AIM client (thanks to mineral777Adam's suggestion and Old Version). That didn't work.

Finally, late in the afternoon yesterday, I read a little tidbit in a forum somewhere. I'd direct link it, but I'm too lazy to look in my Firefox history right now.

One has to log in using an AOL AIM client and update one's Buddy List. Then, before logging into Trillian, you'll have to search for the Buddies.xml file from your Trillian profile and delete it (or rename the extension, in case you'd like to have a backup of it). Once you log in using Trillian, your Buddy List should be all tidy like. Now, it is important to mention that if you use Trillian on other systems, you'll have to delete/rename the Buddies.xml file on those PCs as well, or your AIM Buddy List will get repopulated to its previous state--very annoying after having cleaned it up, I tell ya.

So, that's that, and really, this is for me, in case I forget how to do this again later on.

Great...

For some reason, I find myself attracted to Lake Bell.

I am not sure why.
