"Fashion" flashback

Not too long ago, someone posted about their love of their Skidz pants. I remember owning one pair of them, and that was about it. They have long since gone into the cave of storage that is my mom's garage. Well, I assume that they ended up there, or as rags to clean her house. I'd have to ask her to be sure, really.

The other afternoon while I was on line waiting for very inexpensive Chinese food, I noticed an older--probably in his mid-50s or so--man wearing a distinct palm tree patterned shirt. I waited for him to turn around and I fully expected to see the ID#________ label on the single front pocket, but it wasn't there, it was just a rip off. Middle school is a blur of the previously mentioned shirts, Skidz pants, Guess? jeans, Edwin jeans, Z. Cavaricci pants. I know there were some things I remember academically, but mostly the clothes, the horrible clothes. I wanted those horrible clothes so badly. Eventually, that impulse faded away. Eventually, the friends I had didn't care about that at all. I was lucky.

Went to the library and checked out The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and Life, the Universe, and Everything--yes, I know I should own a copy of all those and more. My copies have been lost to moving and lending them out. It's okay, as long as someone else enjoyed even at least partially.

When I was 11, I had a pair of Esleep pajamas with pants that were basically Skidz knockoffs. They had a little road sign insignia on the butt and everything.

I actually still have (and wear) these pajama pants, though the t-shirt that went with them is long gone.
