Am now back up to almost 4500 songs on my iPod. Yes, there are more important things to focus on to be sure, but I am glad to have a bit more to listen to on my player.
Have discovered MediaMonkey (if I'd not mentioned it before) and YamiPod as well. With the combination of those and iTunes, I think I'll be set, though I'll have to exercise a bit more caution in the future. MediaMonkey Lite is a nice music manager and I believe the limited time use LAME encoder can be replaced with a free LAME encoder. I've not tried ripping using MediaMonkey, so I'm not 100% about that. YamiPod I used mostly for its find duplicates feature. Yes, I am aware that iTunes has a find duplicates option as well, however, it only scans one's iTunes library and not what's on the iPod itself. An annoying inconvenience mostly, but then with YamiPod it wasn't so bad. Amazingly enough, I only had four duplicate songs according to the scan I ran last night. Next thing will be fully syncing with my MP3 library from my desktop at home. I've grabbed quite a few songs, but until I could be sure that I could get rid of duplicate songs, I didn't want to copy too much to my iPod.
An old friend of mine offered backup copies of music I'd had on the player I sold him a while back. Pretty awesome, I must say (and thanks, too!).
So that's that, for now.
