Whenever Rachel flies to Pennsylvania to visit her mom and dad, and the rest of the family up north, it get entirely too quiet at home. I usually go without sleep for most of her visit, and eat quite poorly. Well, poorly in that cereal is what I typically live off of. Actually, there are some leftovers and I will go shopping tomorrow--er, later today--since it's pay day. My sister-in-law also left something she called white chili. Didn't ring a bell. I'll have that tomorrow. I kept a close watch on the flight status on the US Air website. Rachel called a little while after landing, and told me that Abby said, "OK, pick up daddy." It was a tough thing buckling them into their Aunt Donna's Chevy this morning.

In order to keep from focusing on the quiet in our house, I kept something on the TV--and will probably leave it on a timer when I go to bed. When I was single, I used to have a horrible habit of setting the timer and then lying in bed until I fell asleep. For a while, it was must litmus test for movies. If I could stay awake until two or three in the morning, it'd be a movie that belonged on one's must see list. I went without a good night's sleep quite a bit while doing that. I finished watching Wonderland and Cidade de Deus (City of God). Whew. I didn't even notice the two and a half hours go by while watching City of God. It was tough giving up The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai on one of the independent stations, but I'd rather watch that one without any commercials, thank you very much. On the way home, I made a Blockbuster stop and picked up movies that Rachel would never, ever give a chance: House of a 1,000 Corpses, Ginger Snaps, and Earth Vs. the Spider. I would have rented more, but apparently, we forgot what day our previous two movies were due, so there was a late fee. Feh.

I am currently watching the chase scene from The French Connection. I should make my way to bed, but haven't worked up to that yet.

I finally drifted off to sleep at about 1:30 or 2:00 a.m. Yes, I left the television on a timer--it was tough to decide whether to leave it on Hedwig and the Angry Inch or Predator. I chose the latter since I've seen it umpteen million times when I was younger. I'd have stayed awake later to see the other movie in its entirety. It's one I've never finished.

Off to install Trillian Pro 2.0. Mmmm.

Hmmm. Only 10? This took up about a minute to skim through. Eh.
