A fine welcome back to work
I managed to get nearly two weeks off using only four vacation days. Can't beat that, really.
So, as a welcome back to work, my boss sits me down in his office and begins briefing me on what's going on, you know, what squeaky wheels need oil, yada yada yada. About the time that I think we're done, he brings up the fact that he'd been planning on getting me a new desktop, and he did.
I'd been dropping hints that I'd love to take over one of our Athlon 1500s or heck, even one of the Duron 1 GHz PCs that we've been purchasing. Well, somewhere along the way, he found a Pentium 4 1.5 GHz PC with a DVD-ROM, a CD-RW, a ZIP 250 drive (which I have no idea what I'll use for), and a wireless keyboard and mouse. Needless to say, I was in shock.
I've spent most of today and yesterday setting the PC up--fortunately, just about all of my documents are on a network server, and most of the other software is easily located. I'm just about set, and I'm pleased as can be with myself.
I need to vacation more often. :)
