A bit of a zombie fixation

If I had a copy of R.E.M.'s version of I Walked WIth a Zombie right now, it'd be very fitting. Thanks to staying awake a bit longer than I'd intended, and watching a mix of Resident Evil, The Replacements, Day of the Dead, and Cherry Falls is probably contributing to reading more into things. Well, not so much The Replacements as much as the other three movies--and mostly the zombie ones. Driving on mostly deserted roads, and walking into a seemingly empty hospital to start work is always just a bit eerie for me. It's deceiving, since the parking lot is fairly full, you just don't see anyone for a little while, though. One of my recurring fears when I was working the overnight shift was something horrible happening, and not being sure of what to do. Rachel wouldn't even stay up to watch Resident Evil with me, she said the creatures were too freaky for her--none of Romero's zombies ever seemed to scare her, though. Personally, I think she's jealous of Milla Jovovich--that, or she didn't want me to sulk if she ogled Eric Mabius. Wink, wink

Thankfully, nothing ever did happen, and even if it had, the rest of the lab working would have been more than helpful, I'm sure--I mean, unless they were turned into zombies, right? As I walked yet another deserted hallway, I found myself thinking about the quickest exits, down, NOT up. I checked a couple of doors to see if they were locked. Most were. The thought of actually buying a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide has actually crossed my mind a few times. I've lost count, really.

Boy, did I feel stupid when a nurse from one of the ICUs saw me after just checking a door.

mmm... zombies... :)

i've got a bit of thing for eric mabius as well.... trying to figure out where i knew him from bugged the hell out of me the first time saw resident evil... then it hit me, he played death in an episode of millennium (the one where all the people who escaped death the first time were mysteriously drowning).... he was a very stylish death and therefore made quite an impression :)

that so funny you were busted checking doors :)

I avoided eye contact and kept walking while inside my mind, I was thinking, "Doo, doo, doo, nothing to see here, I'm not doing anything""

now if i had a dollar for everytime i was caught doing something embarrassing....

[identity profile] monkeygirldiva.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
hehehe.... no need to feel uncomfortable... you were actually doing her/him a good service... we all know nurses are usually expendable characters who are prime candidates to end up as zombie food :)

Zombie food or a Michael Myers victim. I guess they're the equivalent of red shirts for horror movies?

is that a red flag to a bull reference? i'm rather slow this evening....

[identity profile] monkeygirldiva.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
elle driver in kill bill vol.1 is one nurse the zombies would want to think twice about going for... i'm sure she'd give them a run for their money. though elle vs michael would be an interesting showdown :)

Ah, no worries. On Star Trek, the original series, red shirts (http://red.shirt.society.fanspace.com/) were the crew members most likely to bite it during their five year mission. Poor guys.

Mmmm, good match up, Elle vs. Michael. Interesting. I see, a Dark Horse comic treatment of it. :)

i never really got into the original series so i think of red as the star trek senior management colour :)

oh, did you get around to seeing ghosts of mars... mmm.... space zombies :)

Ah! No, I haven't yet. I SO should have rented that when Rachel went to PA. Must. Rent. It.

please don't raise expections too high but...

[identity profile] monkeygirldiva.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
i've watched it twice now... though only because it's only one of four films on my laptop and, when my tv actually decides to work, it only has egyptian soap operas and arabic current affairs programs on it.

i repeat... mmmm.... space zombies :)

It's cool.

Even if I don't I don't like, it surely won't be on the same level as, say, Pieces, you know? I can get enjoyment out of all sorts of movies--but that one just didn't do it for me, or my roommate at the time. Thankfully, it was free thanks to the perks provided to me by my video store employer.

I want a copy of the zombie survival guide!!

I check doors a lot, too. Especially on eerie feeling days. Haha! yer neurotic! ;-)

[identity profile] servermonkey.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
I just checked another one on my way for a pick up a little while ago. It was an unlocked storage room--it was too dark too really see what was being stored, but at least there wasn't a pair of glowing eyes looking back at me. Yes, I made sure the coast was clear before I started checking doors again. :)

[identity profile] prairieflower.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
What if it had its eyes closed? OMG YER DOOMED!!!

[identity profile] servermonkey.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's it. Next time I walk by that door, I'll be sure to stick a wedge under it.

Oh wait, what if it opened the door and left? Ah, damn.

[identity profile] servermonkey.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
It'll be okay, as long as it doesn't wander down this way before 5:30 p.m. today. After that, the next shift is on their own.

[identity profile] prairieflower.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
OH NO ITS RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!@!!!!

[identity profile] servermonkey.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 09:54 am (UTC)(link)

That Chuck, he's a smart and decent fellow. Well, at the very least, a good icon provider.

Thanks!
