R.I.P. Hubble

Apparently, the imaging spectograph on it has failed.

Completely unrelated, but even my 78 year old co-worker knows Rick James' Superfreak. Surprised me, to say the least.

I am utterly opposed to Bush's abandonment of Hubble in favor of his bullcrap Mars initiative. Forget Mars, fix the fricking telescope, you Luddite.

I really hope they leave it up there. Maryland is developing a robot that is considered one of the frontrunners for robotic orbital repair (CNNs words, not mine!). We even had a spot on a shuttle mission once upon a time (though that got cancelled when they stopped doing science flights in favor of ISS assembly, something else the robot could do).

Send the robot! I sometimes wish things were as easily decided as that.

Strategery is the first word that comes to mind.
