Nice.

I've only just now managed to get my PC to boot up this morning. It's 9:52 a.m. and I've been here since just after 8:00 a.m.

I noticed some odd problems yesterday afternoon before leaving, and part of me wanted to blame GUSH, since that's been the only real change I've made this week. After uninstalling GUSH, my PC got flaky. Main reason I got rid of GUSH is that I think our firewall and/or proxy won't allow connections to Jabber servers. Didn't seem to be worth the trouble to get the ports opened up. Sad, too, because the software seemed nice (from the screenshots).

So, I tried System Restore. No joy. It locked about half way through the restore, sitting there patiently, while I did not. Okay, I figured, let's get into Safe Mode. BSOD as soon as I logged in. Very nice. Thankfullly, this wasn't the first time it happened, and I remembered the other dump error messages: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. Didn't sound good. Microsoft support was of the opinion that either the RAM was bad or the video adapter had failed.

I honestly thought I had more than 256 Mb of RAM, but was proven wrong when I popped open my case. A single, possibly evil and corrupted, 256 Mb stick of RAM sat in its home. All I had access to were two other 128 sticks. Popped them in and voila! Boot into Safe Mode and was able to run RegCleaner for kicks. Shut down totally, and rebooted, and here we are.

I wonder

Is it sad that when I woke to feed Jonothan at 12:30 or 1:00 a.m. this morning, I was glad to do so because I wanted to switch on CNN or any news to see election results?

He was unimpressed, I believe.

Is it sad that I was trying to teach Abby the Cabbage Patch yesterday?

She too, was unimpressed.

A fitting game

The Political Machine game for PC.

This was one of a few games that caught my eye in a recent PC Gamer issue. I mean, besides Half-Life 2.
