Friday Five (yay! questions this week!)

1. What was your first Halloween costume?
I think I was one of those really unhappy clowns you see in horrible paintings. I think

2. What was your best costume and why?
I've never had any really great costumes. My mom did try (and did a decent job) of making an Elfquest character costume for me (it was Skywise), but I made a horrible elf.

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?
Never. Though I think I would now.

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.)
Nope, my family wasn't into traditions.

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!
I have several. One involves a spirit of a drowned apartment dweller--from the floor above us in Queens. Another involves a psycho living in a run down home a few blocks from church. Both were real stories, but I wonder about the spirit one.

I did pretty horribly on this quiz, I must say.

Holy crap!

Icelandic "Iceman" grabs and kills a 660 pound shark in shallow water.

Ok, I'm only swimming if he's around, then.

More stuff here. . . )

Couldn't be.

This can't be a Birkenstock sandal, and yet, there it is on the sole.

Weird.

Went in the house to get the clip, with my Mac 10 at the side of my hip. . .

Nope, have no idea. I don't know why I get such joy whenever this song comes up on Winamp.

Guilty pleasure of mine, I guess.

When I was growing up in Miami, I wasn't hardcore. I just blended in, not really bothering anybody, and not being bothered by anyone. I figured it was good policy, as I didn't want to be part of what was going on with some people. Fights with heads ending up in glass display cases, snorting coke in the bathroom, people getting drunk during lunch and coming back for classes afterwards--all sorts of stuff that happens in High Schools all over. I often wonder how much I just blocked out, and how much I just went with an "Ignorance is bliss" philosophy. I also wonder how I avoided some of this stuff.
