I wish I could offer some advice for your home situation. I just moved out when I was 17, and it worked out pretty well for me--except for the time I had to come home for about three months (it was a hellacious experience).

Unfortunately, my mom and are so distant now, we could go most of the year without talking with each other. It's not a good thing.
